This morning was the kickoff Sunday for Silver Springs Baptist Church’s capital campaign.

Pastor Russ Stephens and Campaign Director LeAnn Wood approached us after seeing some of our past work on YouTube. They were interested in having a virtual tour created to help them share their vision and build excitement in the congregation. Thus began a number of discussions with them, and their architect Roy Gilleland of Gilleland Associates to get a better feel for their church body and what would best suit their needs.

The following video is what we delivered, and what they played this morning to kick off a new chapter for Silver Springs Baptist Church. Our thoughts and prayers are with them in their new venture!

You can see a small version of the video below, or click here to see it on blip.tv

According to a February post on their website, “Sleepy Bear Campgrounds on M-72 in Empire Township has been sold and will be part of Indigo Bluffs recreational retreat. The property … is undergoing renovations to include a two-story registration building, the addition of 40 lots for site ownership by Class A motorhome owners, and a new sanitary sewer system.”

Long before this purchase, owner/developer Gary Becker had already begun to assemble a team of consultants and designers to help him realize his dreams of a luxury motorcoach resort in Northern Michigan.

Part of their marketing strategy was to have us create 3 videos for them to use on their website, at trade shows, and to hand out to prospective owners.

Video 1 is “Indigo Bluffs – The Region”. This was intended to give a quick introduction of what Northern Michigan living is all about.

Video 2 was “Indigo Bluffs – The Site”. This was to communicate the merits of the location and the amenities of the site.

Video 3 was “Indigo Bluffs – The Development”. This was the largest piece for us – a fully 3D presentation of the site concept.

To learn more about the development, visit www.indigobluffs.com
If you’re in the area, stop by and take a look. They have really made quite a transformation!

I first met Ron Ogden, VP/Sales at the 2008 Church Solutions Expo in Phoenix. His booth was across the aisle from ours, so we naturally visited during breaks. Over subsequent months, we exchanged phone calls gradually fleshing out Ron’s idea for a movie trailer style video clip to introduce their “Celebration II” theater seat.

In addition to this video clip, we also created a 3D model of their seat in a format that could be used by architects and designers in their own modeling software to help them fill auditoriums with the comfort and convenience that the Celebration II offers.

Give me a call if you’d like your own 3D models or videos created!!

To our regular customers, it’s obvious what we can do for a project. However when people we know ask us what we do for a living, it can sometimes be difficult to explain. Once people actually see examples of what we’ve done for others, they usually can see the implications immediately. And whenever we run into someone who has recently completed a project, they know all too well the time and money spent that could have been avoided just by seeing it ahead of time. Hopefully this slideshow will give you some ideas of ways we can help you.

This is a quick animation I did some time ago to test our tracking software. Put simply, tracking allows us to identify the path a camera followed while recording, the lens used, and other characteristics. This information is then used to create a virtual camera in our 3D scene with the same parameters. Then, we can render an animation of something that does not exist, and match it into a real-world setting. You have seen this done hundreds of times, but may not have known it. This is how Gollum in Lord of the Rings , King Kong, and the recent HP and Levi’s commercials were made to name just a few.

This test is poor quality, but that was by design. Rather than using a pro-level HD video camera, I used an inexpensive digital camera that shoots mediocre video. I figured if I can get a good track on a jerky 320×240 at 15fps, I can get a great match on smooth HD. After tracking the camera move, I dropped in a building from a past job, planted some trees, and added some moving cars.

Certainly not a product quality I would deliver, but proof that we can make very convincing matches with proper footage.
